Panama Fashion Week: Lidia Minota Spring/Summer 2017

La última vez que vimos a Lidia Minota presentaba una colección floral con aires arabescos, fast-forward un año después y seguimos en el mismo storyline romántico, casi bucólico. Mientras que aún existe mucho por mejorar – las decisiones de textiles por ejemplo, muchas piezas cargaban la idea mas la tela no apoyaba - hubo mucho que me gustó, sobre todo la simplicidad del styling en comparación con la presentada el año anterior.

“Sunset”, como fue llamada por razones obvias, lleva un mensaje de “feminidad” en las palabras de la misma Lidia. Ruchas, volúmenes y amarres en algodones suizos, encajes y sedas si bien es cierto traen a mente a la colombiana Johanna Ortiz, pero fueron vestidos como el vestido en transparencia con flores naranjas bordadas, o el de papos con canutillos los que nos recordaron que Lidia está aquí para enamorarnos con lo natural que le sale hacer sentir a una mujer hermosa, tal o más que una flor en un atardecer.

The last time we saw Lidia Minota she was working the petals infused with Arabesque flairs, fast-forward a year and we’re still in the same romantic storyline, almost bucolic. While there are still some thigs to improve – for example, there were some very well thought ruffled blouses and skirts that were not that supported by such light fabrics – there was a lot which I mildly liked: loved how edited this collection felt in comparison to her last one.

“Sunset”, the name of the collection, carried a name of “femininity”, explained by Lidia herself. Ruffles, volumes that were meant to be greater and fabric knots in Swiss cotton, lace and silks reminded us of Colombian colleague Johanna Ortiz but were dresses like the floral-patched orange dress in sheer white fabric or the hibiscus flowers embroidered dress the responsible of reminding us of how romantic and beautiful woman she is, like a flower that swam to the ocean Sun.
